Integrity Check
In the Document Archive Setup there is an integrity check that tests if a file reference indeed references an existing file.
Important
These solves the file reference regressions mentioned in the changelog for releases 1.60.0.0 & 1.62.0.0
How to use¶
A Find Broken File References action has been added to the Document Archive Setup page:
This action can be used to find and view all Document Archive file records for which the corresponding file could not be found on the expected remote file storage path.
When you invoke this action, a filter page opens where you can first provide filters for the Document Archive file records to check for broken file records. We recommend to set filters on this page as checking for broken file references might take some time when being done for a large number of file records.
When you click on OK on the filter page, Document Archive will start searching for broken file references for the records within the provided filters.
When this is done a message will open to inform you about the results:
The message informs you how many broken file references were found. It will also search on locations based on known issues (either due to bugs/regressions in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central itself or in Apportunix Document Archive extension updates). It informs how many of the files were found a different location/file path.
When you click on OK you can view the search results and the suggestions, if any, for moving files from the actual location to their expected location.
The records that have a suggestion for resolution will have a value in the Actual Remote File Path field. When you select these records and invoke the Move File action then this will move the files from the incorrect actual remote file path to the expected remote file path:
A confirmation message will let you know how many files will/can be moved to the 'correct'/'expected' location. Choose Yes to continue.
After the action is done moving the files a message will be shown that informs you how many of the files could be moved successfully:
The page will close automatically. If you would like to find and view any leftover broken file references, then please repeat the same process by invoking the Find Broken File References action on the Document Archive Setup page again.
It could also be that there are broken file references for which there are no (automatic) suggestions for the actual remote file path. The most likely reason for this is that someone has (re)moved the files on the remote file storage medium.
Normally, Document Archive won't allow you to remove these file records when the file cannot be found. However, if you cannot locate the remote file anymore, you can use the Force Delete action to force the deletion of the file record(s). This action will remove the selected file record(s) even when the corresponding remote file does not exist (on the expected location).
